Terms & Conditions

Last Updated: 10 May 2025

These terms govern the relationship between Chandra ("we", "us", "our") and the person leaving a watch in our care ("you", "the owner"). They are written plainly. If anything is unclear, please ask before leaving your watch — we are glad to explain.

By leaving a watch with us for assessment or service, you agree to these terms.

1. Who We Are

Chandra is a watch repair and restoration atelier located at 51 Yaowarat Road, Samphanthawong, Bangkok 10100, Thailand. We specialise in mechanical watch service and vintage restoration. We are not an authorised service centre for any manufacturer.

2. Accepting a Watch for Service

When you leave a watch with us, you will receive a numbered intake receipt describing the piece. This receipt is your record of deposit — please keep it. We may ask to photograph the watch on intake.

No service work begins without your written or verbal agreement to the proposed scope and cost, following our assessment. You are under no obligation to proceed after receiving our assessment note.

3. Our Services

We offer three services as described on our website:

Prices are in Thai Baht and inclusive of standard labour. Parts required are quoted separately and agreed before fitting. We do not begin additional work without your approval.

4. Timelines

Indicative timelines are provided at enquiry and confirmed on intake. These are estimates, not guarantees. Vintage pieces in particular may require additional time if sourcing parts proves difficult. We will tell you promptly if the timeline changes significantly.

5. Collection and Uncollected Watches

We will contact you when your watch is ready. Please collect within 30 days of notification. Watches not collected within 60 days, after reasonable attempts to contact you, may be subject to a storage charge of ฿200 per week thereafter.

Watches left for more than 12 months after notification, without contact from the owner, may be considered abandoned. In such circumstances we will make a final effort to contact you before taking any further steps, and will act in accordance with Thai law.

6. Payment

Payment is due on collection. We accept cash (Thai Baht) and bank transfer. We do not hold watches as security, but the watch will not be released until payment is made in full for the agreed work.

If you decide not to proceed after assessment, the watch will be returned to you at no charge.

7. Your Warranty of Ownership

By leaving a watch with us, you confirm that you are the owner or have the authority to authorise service on behalf of the owner. We will not service a watch where we have reasonable grounds to believe it may be stolen or subject to a dispute. If we discover a watch has been reported stolen, we are required to notify the relevant authorities.

8. Care of Watches in Our Custody

We take reasonable care of every watch entrusted to us. Each piece is logged, stored securely when not being worked on, and handled with appropriate tools and conditions.

We are not responsible for pre-existing damage, faults, or conditions not disclosed at intake. We will note pre-existing damage in our intake record and bring it to your attention before starting work.

9. Vintage and Aged Watches — Special Considerations

Vintage watches carry inherent risks when disturbed after long periods of inactivity. Aged gaskets, fragile dials, dried lubrication, and weakened components may respond unexpectedly to service. We will discuss these risks with you before proceeding and note them in the assessment. Our careful handling does not remove these inherent risks, and we are not liable for damage that results directly from the pre-existing condition of the watch.

10. Limitation of Liability

Our liability for damage to your watch, in the event of negligence on our part, is limited to the cost of making good that specific damage to a fair standard, up to the value of the service charge paid. We do not accept liability for consequential loss, loss of use, or sentimental value.

For watches of significant monetary value, we recommend you have your own insurance covering the watch while it is in our care. We can note a declared value on the intake form on request, but we do not provide insurance.

11. Six-Month Regulation Check

Watches serviced at Chandra are welcome back within six months of collection for a no-charge timing verification and minor regulation adjustment, if required. This is a courtesy offered in good faith and does not constitute a warranty or guarantee of any specific timekeeping standard.

12. Dispute Resolution

If you are unhappy with any aspect of our service, please speak to us first. Most concerns can be resolved with a direct conversation. If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, it will be subject to Thai law and the jurisdiction of the courts of Bangkok.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version in effect at the time your watch is taken in for assessment is the version that applies to your service.
