My father's Seiko 5 had been sitting in a drawer for probably eight years. I brought it to Chandra without much hope. They sent me a condition note within three days — detailed, honest, and they were clear that a full service made sense. Got it back keeping good time. The written report was a nice touch I didn't expect.

Sent a vintage Omega by post — they were good about communication throughout. The dial was in fragile condition and they contacted me before touching it to ask exactly how I wanted it handled. That conversation mattered. Came back looking right, not factory-fresh. Exactly what I wanted.

I appreciated that they told me the watch probably didn't need the most expensive option. A full service was enough. Most places would have sold me the larger job. The pricing was clear from the start and the work was finished when they said it would be. That counts for a lot.

Third time I have used Chandra. Each time the watch comes back keeping better time than before. The six-month check-in is something I've actually used — they looked it over at no charge and made a small adjustment. That kind of follow-through is not common.

My grandmother's watch. The dial had a hairline crack and I was worried they would damage it further or suggest replacing it. They conserved it as-is, stabilised the crack, and sent me photos as they went. It doesn't look new — it looks like her watch. That was the right outcome.

I came in without an appointment and the watchmaker took ten minutes to look at my watch and give me an honest view on what it needed. He suggested starting with the lighter service to see how the movement responded. That kind of patience and practical advice is what keeps me coming back.

Three watches, three different stories

The Challenge

A mid-century Swiss automatic with a damaged mainspring and a dial showing early signs of moisture intrusion. The owner wanted it running without losing the original dial and hands.

What We Did

Full overhaul with a period-grade mainspring. The dial was treated to arrest further deterioration — no repainting. We discussed and agreed each step before proceeding. Owner received photographs throughout.

The Outcome

Returned running within ±8 seconds per day, dial fully original. The owner described it as "looking exactly as it should — like a watch from that era, not a reproduction of one."

"I was prepared to hear the dial couldn't be saved. It can. It's not perfect — but it's honest."

The Challenge

A Japanese automatic worn daily for eleven years with no service. The movement was running five minutes slow per day and had developed an intermittent stop under certain positions.

What We Did

Full service with particular attention to the pallet fork and escape wheel, which showed wear consistent with the age. Gaskets replaced. Six-position regulation after reassembly.

The Outcome

Watch returned within ±5 seconds daily. Worn again every day since, with a six-month check at no charge confirming it was still well within tolerance.

"It's my everyday watch. I needed it working properly, not beautifully. It works properly."

The Challenge

A pocket watch from the 1930s that had not run for over fifteen years. The family was unsure whether it was worth servicing at all.

What We Did

Assessment first with a written note on what was needed and an honest view of whether the service cost made sense for the piece. The family decided to proceed. Full restoration with original parts sourced from a specialist supplier in Geneva.

The Outcome

The pocket watch was returned with a photographic service record and a written narrative of what was found and done. It now runs, which the family had not expected to be possible.

"We thought it was ornamental at best. It keeps time now. That wasn't something we expected to be able to say."
